What Does Technology Really Look Like in Today’s Classrooms

Are you using technology (Smart Boards, laptops, etc.) or are you allowing your students to learn using the technology that they are already living with?  I have a senior, age 18, who is building is own computer.  I ordered all the components.  He does not need to watch the teacher use a Smart Board.  He doesn’t need to present a Social Studies report in powerpoint format.  How are we as teachers meeting the needs of the students in our classrooms right now? Today?    Listen to these voices of our American students. 

Technology and Writing Combine

Technology works when it is combined with explicit training of how to use the technology.  Littleton Public Schools is doing this really well!   On March 17, The Fischbowl blogs about the fifth grade EEEPC writing project.

Littleton Public Schools with the help of their CIO, Dan Mass, has figured out how to get the fifth graders Writing with Laptops.  I was at one of their elementary schools last week and saw this in person.  The kids were so excited and were writing up a storm!
