  1. Hi Deborah,
Delighted to hear of your good instincts. They are rare. Black Slides are a way of presenting!
    Thanks,

  3. I think you’re wonderful and appreciate all you do to encourage teachers to be the best teachers of writing we can be.
Do you have a list anywhere of what writing should look like per grade level? I’ve started a Writing Group at my school. It’s a small group and the teachers love sharing writing experiences with each other. We’ve been asked to share with the faculty. We want to have something that shows what writing should look like for each grade level. Basically mechanics and creativity together.
    Thanks so much!!

  5. Hi Deb,

I was perusing through our blog comments today and noticed you left one that hadn’t received a response. You asked why our “Accountability Illusion” report about accountability in schools didn’t cover all 50 states. It’s because we didn’t have comparable data for all 50.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for reading us!

  6. What a great site! Very informative. Writing used to be the most difficult subject for me to teach…now writing workshops are my favorite activity to do with children!

  7. Thank you for all the kind comments! I appreciate it! Deb

  8. i write everyday. more of an exercise, nothing serious.

  9. I love your blog and I work with SECONDARY teachers. I believe that much, if not all, the great evidence-based instructional and learning strategies that work well in early grades ALSO work well in the upper grades of elementary, middle, and high school grades.

Thank you for your good stuff.

P.S. My “writing blog” uses the WP template. Writers must love this one! ;)

  10. Wow, truly cool post. How can I find that subscription?

  12. Hello,

I am a Chilean pedagogy student that is why I visited your blog. Which I really liked because of the creativity that develops in children as well as teachers. As same as you, I think that all children can learn to read and write with the help of their teachers.

Thank you very much for your contribution to education, your optimism, your creativity and thanks for your effort and perseverance.

Best wishes from Chile and I hope that the rest of the world continues to have support for education.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!!!

  13. Just found your blog. I have my Masters in Literacy and currently teach Kindergarten. I have my students write everyday and decided I needed to write everyday as well. And so my blog was created.

  14. News info…

I was reading the news and I saw this really interesting information…

  15. It’s the pity you actually don’t possess a donate link! I’d most likely donate to this superior web site! We presume right now i’ll be happy with book-marking as well as attaching your own Rss feed in order to my personal Search engines accounts. We appear forwards in order to recent posts and can publish this particular web page along with my personal Myspace group:

  16. Great guide plus easy so that you can comprehend description. Exactly how can I actually approach getting authorization so that you can post part of your guide at my upcoming newsletter? Providing proper consumer credit back a article writer plus website to your web-site wouldn’t often be a problem.

    • Thank you for the positive comments. I have email if you want to contact me or connect it with a link to the website. Thanks. deb
